Youth Program Coordinator

The Youth Program Coordinator is a leadership role in managing Aspire Climbing’s youth programs. This includes, but not limited to: the School of Hard Rock youth development program, school and youth groups, Camp Aspire and birthday party programs. They will be responsible for implementing and revising programs to meet customer demands and to stay on top of trends within the rock climbing & obstacle training industries. The Youth Program Coordinator requires lesson planning skills to develop programs to inspire progression for all participants. This role requires team leadership, to develop and train youth program specialist and youth guides to work with kids of various needs. This position will require the coordination between the floor manager, head route setter and high performance coaches to ensure that programming maximizes use of the facility and coordinates well with the facilities other events and group bookings. They must also assess the success of the programs and make suggestions to improve or change programming; part of this assessment should include feedback from coaches, parents and program participants.

 

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Oversee all youth, group and program bookings and ensure adherence to all booking and event policies

  • Communicate with group / event organizers to ensure a positive experience

  • Train instructors and staff how to effectively run youth programs and manage youth groups

  • Follow-up on past groups experiences and pursue repeat business opportunities

  • Promote and coordinate all youth programs and events

  • Train, develop, supervise and organize all program instructors, coaches and guides

  • Develop and implement programming for birthday parties, Camp Aspire and the School of Hard Rock

  • Create and monitor schedules for all programs

  • Coordinate the gym program schedule and enrollment, including recurring classes and events

  • Organize and promote programs for youth and adults

  • Identify areas for growth or improvement within the program schedule

  • Perform all shift supervisor, youth program and floor staff functions

  • Other program management duties as assigned

  • Leverage Aspire Climbing’s social media and E-Newsletter platforms communicate with participants about program opportunities and to provide periodic updates to program participants.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma, certificate or extensive experience working in youth development

  • Willingness to become (or currently have) ACMG or CWA climbing instructor certifications

  • Rock climbing experience and an understanding of climbing development as it aligns with youth development

  • Previous coaching or teaching experience working with youth

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with youth and with adults

  • Ability to manage, delegate and supervise

  • Ability to work nights / weekends

  • Ability to enforce rules and regulations

  • Customer service and sales experience is an asset

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Punctual and reliable

  • Leads by example

WORK HOURS:

Full-Time - Maternity Leave (up to 1 year)

PAY LEVEL:

Salary position. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Staff must be able to perform manual labor, including working at height. Vulnerable sector check required.
